- As a key participant in the relationship with the company, other contractors, and the client, the site foreman is the second management level and has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface.
The site foreman must provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the staff under his/her direction, and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the [URL Removed] includes:
- Knowing and understanding the requirements of the OHSA
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the OHSA, and company safety policies and procedures
- Facilitate mandatory safety tool box meetings
- Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
- Participating in safety/incident investigations
- Ensuring that vehicle and equipment checks are carried out.
The site foreman coordinates the crew, and must consistently apply the general foreman’s policies. The site foreman is required to be involved and supportive of any day to day disciplinary decisions.
The site foreman is accountable for following project plans and schedules and ensuring that staff under his/her direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals.
A construction foreman has a solid background in the field. Your leadership skills and your extensive experience have earned you the ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. You must be well-organized and favor safety above everything else.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
- Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities
- Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
- Resolve problems when they arise
- Report on progress to managers, engineers etc.Requirements
- Proven experience as construction foreman
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OSH guidelines
- Understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate and report effectively
- Aptitude in math
- Problem-solving abilities
- Good physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.)
